Welcome to Motcombe Alpacas
Our aim has always been to SELL ALPACAS bred from Champion studs with a record of good bloodlines and quality fleeces and at the same time selecting for Temperament and quiet management. This has paid off as we now have home bred alpacas for Sale that we can confidentially let young children (and adults too!) take for walks or just stand and stroke them.
We are breeding alpacas with good conformation with fine fleeces and can sell males as pets and females of all ages.We can probably select just the right animal for you.
We haven't the time to go to more than one Show a year, but are proud of our results.
Alpacas are naturally a wild animal which we feel should be respected, ours can only be caught in a corner of the field or in a pen; once the halter is on they enjoy the fuss they receive! I don't want them too tame.
Why Alpacas?
Because they are bewitching. Alpacas's gentle manner and their glorious, deep soft coats make them a favourite with everyone who comes into contact with them.
These beautiful, calm, graceful animals are highly intelligent and can learn quickly; they are a joy to be with.
The Alpaca's low melodious mewing is very therapeutic and Motcombe Farm has people recovering from illnesses coming and sitting in their cars, just to watch and listen to the alpacas. We are frequently told how relaxed and stress-free they feel from the near contact with our alpacas. It is good to be able to help people.
The alpaca's natural behaviour makes them easy to care for and manage as they learn a routine in 24hrs !
ALPACAS are addictive - once you have 2 or 3 you will be hooked and not want to sell any.
Their fleece, best seen just before shearing, will make you want to learn to spin and make your own garments. We can sell you fleeces and/or alpacas to suit your requirements.

We currently have two mature pregnant females (one white, one black) who know the job and just get on with it. They have consistently produced cria who have done well in the show rings, and have the temperament we are looking for.

About Motcombe Farm Alpacas
Motcombe Alpacas is a family-run conservation farm under the Stewardship Scheme on the edge of the Cotswolds just north of Bath, between Chippenham and Bristol. The fields abound in a wide variety of wild flowers, herbs and many different grasses offering a wide choice to these browsing animals, which helps to keep them healthy.
Our alpacas enjoy the hills which resemble, in a gentle way, the uplands of the Andes Mountains in South America, from where they originate.
We have a small herd of under 25 - we sell a few each year so that we keep it that way and each Alpaca can have individual contact with us on a daily basis; this is how we know the character and behaviour of each one, and can spot immediately a change in behaviour that might indicate "I'm near birthing"!! or "I'm being bullied".
We are confident that we can sell the right animal to fit the requests of our customers.
